Life is like an ocean and we are like vessels traveling through her. When we don't know where we are going, what we are suppose to do, her currents and waves drag us wherever she wants us, powerless against her pull. Sometimes she drags us under into the dark, deep abyss that some escape and others don't.
But when we have purpose, a destination, our keel cuts through her waves and we get closer and closer to home. Good friends and loved ones are like the stars in the night sky, beacons of hope, light and guides that help us get to where we want to go. And if we are lucky, you find that special person that can be that bright, bright star and your true North. Then there are those who would bring you down, some knowingly, others unknowingly, the sharks of our lives, ready to use and feast upon us.
Our morality is our compass, helping us to be true and to let us know where we are going. Like the ocean, there are storms and obstacles that may push us off course, slow us down, turn us around even. But the more storms we travel through, the better we know how to handle them when they come. All I know is I hope to never stop trying to get home where I belong.
- B.A. Giovannoni
What I have found is that sometimes we don't know who our stars or sharks are, we may think we found our North Star and they turn out to be Moby Dick. I raise my glass to all the Stars in the world, may your lights burn ever so brightly.
